Marcus interferes, determined to look out for Stevie (Picture: BBC)
When we last saw Jonty Buchanan (Richard Harrington) in Casualty he was uttering dire threats in Stevie (Elinor Lawless)’s direction after she discharged him too early and he was swiftly readmitted to the hospital after walking in front of a car.
‘Soon you’ll realise you’re not as good as you think you are – and so will everyone else,’ he warned her. So when he turns up in tonight’s episode he’s out for revenge and he spots an opportunity when he sees Marcus (Adam Sina) and Stevie kissing outside the hospital – and takes a picture of them.
Marching into the department later he confronts Stevie, accusing her of using Marcus to further her career. ’Women like you only have one way to get what they want – sex,’ he tells a shocked Stevie, showing her the photograph on his phone. Stevie tells Marcus to sort it – but Marcus’s way of sorting things could get them both into much deeper trouble.
Meanwhile, Stevie also has patients to treat and one of them in particular is quite the challenge. Sam (Sam Oladeinde) claims to be the son of God, and when we meet him at the beginning of the episode in a DIY store acquiring a nail gun, you have a pretty good idea of where things are headed.
But as David (Jason Durr) and Paige (Shalisha James-Davis) disagree with Stevie about how best to handle Sam, could Stevie be about to put her patient and the entire department in danger because she’s too preoccupied with Jonty?
Ashok struggles to accept his diagnosis (Picture: BBC)
Elsewhere, Rash (Neet Mohan) and his father Ashok (Kriss Dosanjh) visit a doctor who confirms that Ashok has vascular dementia. As Rash confronts this new reality, he’s offered help and support from various sources but insists he doesn’t need any help. As the stresses of the day start to mount up, Mona (Shobu Kapoor) brings Ashok into the department – and Rash wonders whether he can cope.
Dylan (William Beck) is determined to pursue the mystery of why or whether his old teacher Jemima (Souad Faress) set fire to the care home in last week’s episode.

He’s disheartened when he hears from the DCI that the case has been closed and the police are taking no further action against Jemima’s son, who Dylan suspects of abusing her. He seems to have hit a dead end – but then has a brainwave.
Paul (Paul Popplewell) and Robyn (Amanda Henderson) are surprised to see Damien (Daniel Millar), who they used to know when they were children. But Paul’s insecurities soon surface when Robyn reminds him that ‘all the girls used to fancy Damien.’
And the paramedics have a tense wait to see if Jan (Di Botcher) is going to lose her job for running someone over.
