Cardiff Irish pub bans English fans from watching Wales match to create ‘safe’ atmosphere

 
 

  

The pub has said it wants Wales fans to enjoy today's World Cup game in a "safe and friendly atmosphere".

An Irish pub in Cardiff has banned English fans from watching tonight's crunch World Cup fixture between Wales and England. Popular chain pub O’Neill's has said English fans are not welcome for the “safety and comfort” of pub patrons in the Welsh capital.

O’Neill's said it had taken the decision due to the expected “extreme levels of passion and support” that will be displayed during the game, Wales Online reported. 

The match will be the two countries’ first ever meeting at a football World Cup.
