A car that flew off a road and crashed through the second story of a home has left an elderly couple homeless.
A white Subaru went off the road behind the home of Penny Arant, 75, and her husband Robert, 69, and landed through above the porch through the upstairs window. Their home in Colfax, California, sits next to a turn after a long straight road.
Images from the scene showed fire emergency responders approaching the SUV from the second floor of the home. The vehicle was sinking into the porch roof from its rear right wheel and pieces of wood and home appliances and items were scattered.
The driver sustained severe injuries on Sunday and several public safety agencies helped rescue the individual and remove the vehicle from the home.

While the elderly couple were not injured, their home is uninhabitable and they face repairs estimated to run hundreds of thousands of dollars.
‘The Arant’s contacted their homeowners insurance agency AAA only to be told that they didn’t have coverage for an automobile landing in their home,’ states a GoFundMe page for rebuilding their home.
‘The driver’s insurance will be responsible but it is unlikely that their coverage will be enough to cover that huge property damage.’
It will likely take at least 12 to 14 months for the home to be repaired or rebuilt.

The SUV was lifted off the home using a crane and sling that grabbed it around he rear window frames.
As of Thursday, a day after the GoFundMe page was launched, it had raised about $2,400 of its $100,000 goal.
It is not the first time that a vehicle has crashed through the second story of a building.
In 2018, a bus dashcam recorded the moment that a car flew into the second story of a dental surgery office in Santa Ana, California. Two people were injured in the freak accident, which caused a small fire.
