A mum took her own life on Christmas Day, hours before her 29th birthday.
Jordan Carter leaves nine-year-old son Kai behind after her ‘tragic’ death in Plymouth.
Tributes have been paid to the ‘larger than life’ young woman, who ‘loved her son dearly’.
She is said to have struggled with mental health issues ‘for many years’.
Thousands of pounds have flooded in after a fundraiser was set up for Kai, leaving his family ‘overwhelmed by people’s generosity’.
Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed Jordan’s death is not being treated as suspicious after her body was found at her home in Southway.
Her mum Cheryl set up a GoFundMe aiming to raise £100 for a trust fund for Kai, who will access it when he’s 18. Incredibly, £3,375 has been raised so far.
Cheryl said: ‘Jordan was a larger-than-life character, her two loves were horses and she started riding at the age of four. And of course, her son Kai.
‘Myself and my family are totally overwhelmed by the generosity of people, especially with times being so difficult for most financially, with rising living costs and of course Christmas, however people still did donate. Which has restored my faith in human nature.
‘No words could ever express my appreciation for all the donations & heartfelt messages at such a tragic time. I will be forever grateful.’
Cheryl is now urging anyone who is struggling with their mental health to reach out for help.
She has told people: ‘People do care, and if people tried reaching out, there are people willing to help.’
