Defiant BBC presenter makes another statement on small boats after return confirmed
The Independent says Gary Lineker made another statement on small boats as his return to the BBC was confirmed this morning.
In a thread on his Twitter, the presenter thanked his supporters and BBC colleagues before praising the empathy his backers have shown to refugees arriving into the country on small boats.
He wrote: “A final thought: however difficult the last few days have been, it simply doesn’t compare to having to flee your home from persecution or war to seek refuge in a land far away. It’s heartwarming to have seen the empathy towards their plight from so many of you.”
Mr Lineker confirmed he would return to his hosting duties on Saturday.
