Daily Express – BBC apology to Amanda in Strictly bullying row

    October 1, 2024

Actress Amanda Abbington has said she feels vindicated after the BBC apologised for her treatment on Strictly Come Dancing, the Daily Express reports.

Elsewhere the paper reports on Prince Harry’s return to the UK for a charity event. The paper notes that Harry won’t see his father or brother during his trip.

Amanda Abbington ‘to sue BBC’ after six of her Strictly Giovanni Pernice complaints upheld

Amanda Abbington is considering taking legal action against the BBC for loss of earnings and damages after it released the findings of its investigation into allegations of bullying by Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice, it is reported.

Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington, who stepped back from the BBC One show last year for “personal reasons,” has claimed that she faced a “toxic environment” marked by “inappropriate, mean, and nasty bullying.”

Giovanni Pernice was cleared of threatening and abusive claims by the BBC after an investigation into complaints made against him. On Monday, September, 30, the BBC released a statement regarding the allegations and issued an apology to Amanda.

Prince Harry upstaged by boisterous boy who threw his toys away at the WellChild Awards

The Duke of Sussex has been upstaged by a boisterous boy who threw his toys away during an awards night and laughed as Harry picked them up.

The duke met seven-year-old Noah Nicholson who has complex medical conditions when he returned to the UK to honour children, teenagers and their parents who have been recognised with awards from the charity WellChild.

Harry was asked by some of the youngsters whether he had a passport, and received gifts for his own children in the US.

He told one winner at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel: “My award is being here with you guys.”

The WellChild Awards celebrate the inspiring qualities of some of the country’s seriously ill young people and the dedication of those who keep them healthy and happy, including health, social care and education professionals.

‘Israel targets Yemen in airstrikes whilst continuing attack in Lebanon’ - Paper Talk

    Editorial 01 October 2024.

Tuesday’s front pages are dominated by two polar opposite stories: Israel’s ground invasion of Lebanon and the Strictly Come Dancing bullying report.

The Strictly Come Dancing report leads many of the tabloid newspapers after a report was issued – and an apology from the BBC – into bullying allegations on the hit TV show. In 2023 Amanda Abbington put in a formal complaint against her Strictly dance partner Giovanni Pernice.

The report found some of her complaints to be true, but Pernice has been cleared of the most serious allegations. Complaints of verbal bullying and harassment were upheld, but claims of physical aggression were not.

Israel’s ground invasion of Lebanon makes up the rest of the UK front pages this morning, as editors speculate as to whether this is the start of an all-out regional war.
