Manchester United have drawn up a three-man left-back wishlist for the January transfer window, according to reports. AFC Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez is on the list after United – along with Liverpool – launched an enquiry for the 21-year-old Hungary international. The second left-back on United’s wishlist is AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez, who is thought to be facing an uncertain future in Italy. The third option – and United’s No.1 target for the left-back position – is Bayern Munich superstar Alphonso Davies, according to Sky in Germany, but the Red Devils face stiff competition from Spanish side Real Madrid.…

William Saliba says everyone at Arsenal is ‘so happy’ to have Martin Odegaard back fit and firing, hailing his captain as one of the ‘top three’ midfielders on the planet. Odegaard picked up an ankle injury while on international duty with Norway in early September and the 25-year-old was sidelined for 12 Arsenal games as a result. The Norwegian’s absence from the side coincided with a desperately disappointing run of results for the Gunners, with Mikel Arteta’s men now nine points adrift of top-of-the-table Liverpool in the Premier League. But Odegaard looked to be back to his best at the…

Ruben Amorim has been urged to bring Danny Welbeck back to Manchester United by another former Old Trafford star. Amorim was appointed as United’s new manager on November 11 and oversaw a 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town in his first game in charge. Given his fairly unique philosophy, Amorim has admitted it will be a slow process to turn Manchester United around, with the Red Devils currently in the bottom-half of the Premier League. The Portuguese ex-Sporting Lisbon boss is also expected to bring in some of his own signings, with his former player Viktor Gyokeres being heavily linked with…

Pep Guardiola is a ‘broken man’ who has no idea how to fix Manchester City, according to a leading body language expert. The Spaniard called City’s 3-3 draw with Feyenoord last night ‘difficult to swallow’ and admitted he understood the boos that greeted the final whistle after his side threw away a 3-0 lead in the last 15 minutes. Guardiola’s own frustrations were apparent given the number of scratches visible on his head after the match. The Catalan had arrived at the ground with a cut on his nose, which he said he had caused himself with a long fingernail.…

The Cherries uploaded a video across their social media channels last week to highlight one in two women feel unsafe walking alone after dark. The clip shows a female Bournemouth supporter uncomfortably walking home after an evening game – and suggests what male fans can do to help – such as crossing the road when walking behind a woman late at night. Bournemouth have been widely praised for the video and the club are now taking further steps to help…

Chelsea may be regretting letting go of Tyler Dibling with the Southampton teenager tipped to be a ‘superstar’ following an impressive start to the season. Dibling, 18, only made his senior debut a year ago but he’s now a key player in Southampton’s side as they bid to remain in the Premier League. The attacking midfielder has appeared in every league game so far and though he’s scored just once, his performances have been catching the eye. This was the case yet again on Sunday, when Liverpool visited St. Mary’s in a clash between top and bottom of the table.…

There has been outrage and condemnation in Spain after a five-year-old boy was forced to take off his beloved club’s shirt before attending Espanyol’s La Liga clash with Girona at the weekend. Hosts Girona ran out comfortable 4-1 winners over Espanyol on Saturday, the side’s third league victory on the bounce, to rise to seventh in the Spanish top flight. But a viral video filmed before kick-off, which shows a young supporter being made to take off his Espanyol jersey by security staff, has somewhat overshadowed Girona’s win. According to the boy’s father, the child had been told he would…

Tim Sherwood has backed Ruben Amorim to turn Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford into a ‘superstar’. Rashford scored the first goal of the Amorim era in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town, turning home Amad Diallo’s cross inside two minutes to give the Portuguese boss the perfect start to his tenure. The early goal felt like a turning point for a team sitting in the bottom-half of the Premier League table but United’s flaws were exposed by newly-promoted Ipswich, who secured a well-deserved point through Omari Hutchinson’s deflected strike on the stroke of half-time. Amorim admitted he had a huge…

Jamie Redknapp has slammed Ilkay Gundogan after the Manchester City midfielder’s leggy display in his side’s 4-0 loss to Tottenham. The defending Premier League champion, seeking to stop the rot after four losses in a row, fell behind early after a well-taken brace from James Maddison. And it only got worse for Pep Guardiola’s side after the break as Pedro Porro’s goal – followed by Brennan Johnson’s late strike – condemned City to their fifth loss in a row. Much has been made of the absence of Ballond d’Or winner Rodri in midfield and it proved telling once again, with…

Kyle Walker has warned that Manchester City will get ‘walked over’ by Liverpool if they don’t improve before their crunch Premier League clash next weekend. City fell to a scarcely believable 4-0 home defeat against Tottenham meaning they have now lost five games in a row for the first time since 2006. The concerning defeat leaves the defending league champions five points behind Liverpool, although Arne Slot’s side could extend their advantage to eight points should they beat Southampton on Sunday. Pep Guardiola’s side, however, have little time to lick their wounds, with a Champions League tie against Feyenoord on…

Amoirm, who has replaced Erik ten Hag after leaving Sporting Lisbon, takes charge of the Red Devils on Sunday as they travel to Ipswich Town. The 39-year-old faces a tall order if he is to turn around a United side that currently sits 12th in the Premier League having recorded their lowest-ever league finish the season prior. It is perhaps telling that the first name inscribed on the new Club World Cup trophy – before even the first winner – was FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Describing the new 32-team tournament as ‘the pinnacle of all club competitions’, the 24-carat gold trophy, crafted by Tiffany & Co, hailed the incumbent FIFA boss as the project’s inspiration and founding president. Barely a post goes out on Infantino’s social media accounts without his final approval and the wording on this trophy was no different. But while the vanity of plastering one’s own name on a trophy may only rile up fans,…

The pair trained again this week under the new coach but it remains to be seen if they are fit enough to play a substantial role…

Paul Merson has hailed Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest as the club’s best performance of the season and says Bukayo Saka is a ‘completely different player’ when joined by Martin Odegaard. Padel has exploded in popularity up and down the United Kingdom – but the remarkable rise of this racket sport has raised lots of questions and concerns. There has been talk from some, including the legendary Novak Djokovic, that the sport of tennis is under serious threat. Others have claimed that padel is just a fad. That seems unlikely, given the level of investment that has been pumped into what is still a relatively new sport which was invented by Enrique Corcuera in Acapulco and combines elements of tennis, squash and badminton. The Lawn Tennis Association said in September: ‘Since…

Zirkzee arrived at Old Trafford with weighty expectations on his shoulders on the back of a £36.5million move from Serie A outfit Bologna in the summer transfer window. After a dream debut against Fulham, though, the goals have dried up for Zirkzee, with the 23-year-old failing to hit the target in any of his 16 appearances in United colours. It has been a similar story on the international stage, with Zirkzee left out of Ronald Koeman’s…
