Another weekend of Premier League football, another Monday round-up! This weekend saw, mostly, closely contested fixtures that could end up being the difference for certain sides, especially those in the relegation battle. Manchester City win – again Saturday’s Premier League kicked off with a great game between the runaway Manchester City and surprise top-4 hopefuls, West Ham United. Although this win meant City have now won 20 games in a row in all competitions, it wasn’t their easiest win, with Pep Guardiola even admitting “we were lucky to get all three points”. Whilst this is a huge compliment to David…

Crystal Palace (Palace) 0 – Fulham (Cottagers) 0 The first Premier League fixture of the day was in London, as Crystal Palace held on to a goalless draw against The Cottagers, with the latter perplexed as to how they couldn’t score after dominating with 60% possession and 16 shots. Following a dull first half of Premier League football, The Cottagers’ best chances of the game all came in the second half. Josh Maja had a huge opportunity to score with a header from six-yards out in the 67th minute, but fine keeping by Palace’s Vicente Guaita denied him. Palace defender…

Whilst it wasn’t the explosive UFC heavyweight bout that many, including myself, had expected, Ciryl Gane was able to dominate his opponent, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, for the entire 5 rounds, scoring 50-45 on all 3 of the judge’s scorecards. Tactical masterclass by Gane After tonight’s performance at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas, it’s hard to believe that Ciryl Gane made his pro MMA debut just 3 years ago in August 2018. Ciryl ‘Bon Gamin’ Gane was able to keep Jairzinho ‘Bigi Boy’ Rozenstruik at a distance, throwing stiff jabs and heavy leg kicks that made an already tentative Rozenstruik even…

Saturday’s Premier League results were all closely contested fixtures, each balancing on knife edges waiting for that one moment of magic to win the game or rescue a point for the teams involved. Whilst City look well on-course to win another Premier League title, it was a frustrating day for fans of The Seagulls and Newcastle United. Manchester City (City) 2 – West Ham United (Hammers) 1 Pep Guardiola’s City made it 20 consecutive wins in all competitions after a resilient Hammers side made it tough for the hosts in the first Premier League result of the day. The first…

For the second consecutive weekend, UFC Fight Night’s main event on Saturday is a heavyweight bout, this time, between number 4 ranked Jairzinho Rozenstruik and number 7 ranked Ciryl Gane. Just like last weekend’s UFC Fight Night main event between Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis, this heavyweight match-up should also be an entertaining duel. Ciryl Gane At 7-0-0, winning all 4 of his fights since entering the UFC, Ciryl ‘Bon Gamin’ Gane is not only an elite striker – being able to combine his powerful boxing and impressive kickboxing well – but he is also a 2x French Muay Thai…

It was mostly a positive night in the Europa League for British teams, as everyone managed to advance to the next stage of the competition, except for Leicester City, who fell to the champions of Czech Republic, Slavia Prague. Arsenal 3 – Benfica 2 (Arsenal win 4-3 on aggregate) After a 1-1 draw in the first leg of this Europa League Round of 32 fixture, both sides had everything to play for in the reverse leg. Arsenal were first to draw blood on 21 minutes. Arsenal youth sensation Bukayo Saka started the move with an exquisite through ball that found…

India destroyed any hope England had of qualifying for the ICC World Test Championship finals after winning by 10 wickets in just the second day of the test – the shortest test match that’s happened since World War 2. After a superb bowling display by captain Joe Root during India’s first innings where he took the last 5 wickets – the first England captain to do so since Bob Willis in 1983 – to put India at 145 all out, England once again collapsed in disappointing fashion in their second innings, falling victim to India’s deadly spin bowlers. India’s elite…

It’s getting to the point where I no longer need to state that Manchester City won since it’s becoming such a common occurrence. Nevertheless, City dominated German side Borussia Mönchengladbach in their first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 fixture, winning 2-0 off the back of goals from Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus. City stroll to victory against Mönchengladbach Whilst City weren’t exactly creating a plethora of chances, they strolled through their Champions League evening against Mönchengladbach with ease, at times, making it look like a training match. Their first goal came in the 29th minute thanks…

Tottenham Hotspur once again cruised past RZ Pellets WAC (Wolfsberger) in a one-sided 4-0 win that sees them win 8-1 on aggregate and proceed to the next round of the Europa League. Dele Alli was the star of the show, with the Tottenham midfielder scoring 1 and assisting 2. Fantastic performance by Dele Alli Tottenham’s first goal came after just 10 minutes when Dele Alli scored a superb bicycle kick (someone was watching Olivier Giroud last night). Right back Matt Doherty played a ball into the midfielder’s feet inside the box, whose touch isn’t the best, but it bounced…

With the series tied at 1-1 after England got demolished by India in the second test, they would have been hoping for some sort of redemption going into this pivotal third test. However, a terrible batting display saw England get, once again, torn apart by India’s spin bowlers (Axar 6-38, Ashwin 3-26) going all out for just 112 in 48.4 overs. India, on the other hand, are already within just 13 runs of England’s pathetic first innings total after 33 overs. Disappointing batting from England After winning the toss and choosing to bat first in already tough conditions, England got…

Champions League Round of 16, first leg report: Chelsea cruise to 1-0 win against Atlético Madrid EU

Despite the narrow score line in this Champions League Round of 16 fixture, Chelsea comfortably defeated Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid by 1 goal to nil thanks to a superb bicycle kick by Olivier Giroud. Not the most exciting Champions League match Although this Champions League fixture was never expected to be flooded with goals due to the defensive prowess of both managers, it was a fairly uneventful game. Chelsea had the best chance of the first half in the 38th minute. After Mason Mount found him on the left side of the box, Timo Werner turned beautifully past the Atlético…

Tuesday’s Premier League result saw Leeds United score 3 goals in the second half to secure an impressive 3-0 win against a subpar Southampton that have now failed to win a game in their last 8 Premier League matches. The win for Marcelo Bielsa’s side sees them go into 10th place, leapfrogging Arsenal. Leeds too much for Southampton in Tuesday’s Premier League result The first half saw both sides have chances, however, the biggest talking point of the half was when a penalty given to Southampton was overturned thanks to VAR in the 33rd minute. Leeds player Diego Llorente was…

A crazy Monday night Premier League result. Graham Potter’s Brighton side will be utterly perplexed as to how they managed to lose this game to Crystal Palace. After dominating the entire game, including having 75% possession and 25 shot attempts, Palace stole the game in the final seconds with only their second touch inside Brighton’s box. A huge Premier League result for all clubs involved in the relegation battle. Dominant Brighton shocked by resilient Palace Brighton dominated the game immediately, keeping Roy Hodgson’s men on the back foot and not allowing them any attacking chances. That was the case,…

Well, it’s fair to say I got my prediction slightly wrong. Derrick ‘The Black Beast’ Lewis caused a huge UFC upset early Saturday morning when a devastating right uppercut finished Curtis ‘Razor’ Blaydes at minute 3:34 of the second round. As the +350 underdog going into the fight, it would be right to say that the result of the bout was beyond a huge UFC upset. In fact, it’s the biggest UFC main event upset since 2016, when Michael Bisping defeated Luke Rockhold at UFC 199. But despite Blaydes being a heavy favourite in most people’s eyes – mine included…

Premier League Results Southampton ( SAINTS ) 1 – Chelsea 1 ( CFC ) The first batch of Premier League results come at the St. Mary’s Stadium, where after dominating possession for the large majority of the game – 71% to be exact – Chelsea couldn’t find a way through Southampton’s defence, only managing an equaliser through a Mason Mount penalty in the second half. Ralph Hasenhüttl’s men only managed one shot on target the entire game and fortunately for the Saints, it was Takumi Minamino’s goal in the 33rd minute. Nathan Redmond was able to split the Chelsea defence…

Bale then scored 15 minutes later, after a clever turn saw him lose his defender…

Whilst many people in Britain were asleep at 5 am on Saturday morning, a fight was brewing at UFC 258 it looked as though, for a slight moment, that the challenger Gilbert Burns was about to put Kamaru Usman to sleep himself. Despite rocking him early, however, Usman’s experience and world-class striking helped him overcome this scare. On Saturday night, Kamaru Usman successfully defended his UFC 258 Welterweight title after defeating former training partner Gilbert Burns with a third-round TKO at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, USA. Despite having a wrestling background, it was Usman’s striking, particularly his jab, stole…
