It means Liverpool missed out on closing in on the Premier League’s top four. Liverpool are in sixth place, whilst Brentford are two points behind Liverpool in seventh place.

NFL player has cardiac arrest during game NFL player Damar Hamlin, 24, suffered a cardiac arrest during a Buffalo Bills game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The bills player remains in a critical condition. Hamlin fell to the ground during the primetime match after colliding with another player. He received about 30 minutes of on-field medical attention before being rushed off to the local hospital. The match was suspended about an hour after Hamlin collapsed. Emma Radacanu wins Auckland 2023 opener British tennis star Emma Radacanu has made a winning start to 2023 with a win over Linda Fruhvirtova. Radacanu, 20 beat the Czech player 4-6 6-4 6-2 in a match that was dogged by rain. The Czech teenager is ranked just one place below Radacunu – the 2021 US Open winner – at 76th. The 2021 US Open winner was a break down against Fruhvirtova but went on to win four games in a row to change the momentum and win the match. She will face Slovakian Viktoria Kuzmova – ranked 105, next.

Pele: Brazil great’s cancer has advanced, says hospital BBC Sport says Brazil great Pele’s cancer has advanced, according to the hospital where the 82-year-old is being treated. The three-time World Cup winner has been in hospital for just over three weeks. His daughter said on social media that he would spend Christmas in hospital. The Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein said Pele “presents cancer disease progression and requires greater care related to renal and cardiac dysfunctions”.
