Online electrical store is cutting costs but faces ‘tough environment’ and supply chain problems The online electrical goods retailer AO World has reported bigger half year losses as it has been hammered by the cost of living crisis and supply chain problems. AO, which sells kitchen appliances, mobile phones and laptops for home delivery, warned of tough times ahead, but raised its full-year earnings guidance after closing loss-making divisions and its German business. Most Black Friday offers are not cheaper – consumer group Black Friday discounts may not be as genuine as they appear, but shoppers are being told as most deals are not genuine discounts.  Analysis of more than 200 offers last Black Friday found 98% were cheaper or the same price at other times in the year, consumer group Which? said. World Cup: Former Wales footballer told to remove rainbow bucket hat Laura McAllister, an ex-Wales footballer, was asked to remove her “rainbow wall” bucket hat as she entered a World Cup stadium in Qatar.  McAllister, a gay woman, said she was told to remove the hat before the start of the USA vs Wales game. Indonesia: Java quake kills scores and injures hundreds An earthquake on the Indonesian island of Java has killed scores of people and injured hundreds, according to officials.  The 5.6 magnitude quake struck Cianjur town in West Java, at a shallow depth of 10km (6 miles), according to US Geological Survey data. Rescue teams have worked through the night trying to save people trapped under collapsed buildings. The area where the earthquake hit is densely populated and prone to landslides, with poorly built houses reduced to rubble in many areas. India man jailed for letting cows roam streets A man has been given a six-month jail sentence for letting his cattle stray on the streets. Prakash Jairam Desai was found guilty of letting them loose and endangering lives, by a court in the western Indian state of Gujarat. The state is one of several that is facing issues with stray cattle on its streets. The court said the punishment was imposed to serve justice since such offences are on the rise.
