Net migration in UK reaches new record of more than 600,000 The Metro says Net migration to the UK has climbed to a record level, official statistics released today have revealed. UK net migration hits record high despite Tory promises to cut arrivals The Guardian says Net migration has increased to a record level of more than 600,000 despite promises from ministers over four years to bring the total below 245,000. Figures from the Office for National Statistics show overall migration for 2022 was 606,000, which represents a 20% increase on the previous high of 504,000 last year. Grounded ship successfully refloated in Suez Canal A ship that had been grounded in the Suez Canal has been successfully refloated, according to shipping agent Leth Agencies. Tugboats were brought in to help assist in refloating the ship, named Xin Hai Tong 23. “The Suez Canal Authority has successfully refloated M/V XIN HAI TONG 23 at 0740hrs,” Leth said in a tweet. Student suspected of deadly fire at school over confiscated phone A fatal fire at a school dormitory may have been started by a student who was angry that her mobile phone had been confiscated earlier in the day, according to Guyana officials.
