Jacksonville shooting: Racist gunman kills 3 black people in Florida store Three black people in the US, have been killed after a man opened fire at a Dollar Store, in a racially motivated shooting. He then killed himself.  The gunman described as white and in his early 20s, entered the store in Jacksonville, Florida opened fire, killing two men and a woman. He was then in a standoff with police.  The gunman wore body armour and left manifestos. He carried a lightweight semi-automatic rifle and a handgun. Three US marines killed in Australia helicopter crash A military helicopter exercise in Australia has left three US marines dead and more than 20 people injured after the helicopter crashed. The MV-22B Osprey came down on its way to the remote Tiwi islands north of Darwin. Five of the marines are said to be in a serious condition. The Marines were taking part in Predators Run – involving 2,500 troops from the US, Australia, the Phillippines, East Timor and Indonesia. Only US personnel were onboard the military helicopter. Historic Trump mugshot released after arrest in Atlanta, Georgia Former US President Donald Trump has surrendered in Georgia on charges of plotting to overturn the 2020 election results in the state. Following his arrest, his mugshot was released – the first of any former US president. Trump paid a bail bond of $200,000 to be released from the Atlanta jail while he awaits trial. Georgia investigates threats against Trump jury Officials are investigating online threats made against members of the grand jury that indicted former US President Donald Trump.  Officials in the US state of Georgia are trying to track down those behind the threats. Personal information, including the addresses and photos of the jurors, were shared on right-wing platforms. Hawaii wildfires: Maui emergency chief quits after sirens criticism Herman Andaya – Maui’s emergency management chief – has quit following backlash over the failure of the alarm system in last week’s devastating wildfire. He quit just one day after he attempted to defend the agency’s failure to activate its alarm system. Andaya had no prior experience in emergency management and has quit citing “health reasons”. Hawaii fires: First victims named as death toll reaches 106 Robert Dyckman, 74, and Buddy Jantoc, 79, both from the town of Lahaina, have been identified as victims of the deadly Hawaii wildfires.  They are the first to be formally identified by officials. The wildfires swept Maui island last week, killing at least 106 people and leaving around 1,300 people missing.
