‘Why is Ashton Kutcher suddenly doing rom-coms again after 12 years?’, you might ask. Well, the man himself has the answer.
Ashton, 44, stars opposite Reese Witherspoon, 46, in Your Place or Mine, which premieres on Netflix on February 10.
The movie tells the story of best friends Debbie and Peter, who are total opposites in how they live their lives.
With Debbie finding comfort in routine but Peter thriving on change, they decide to swap lives for a week, during which time they discover what they really need.
Of course, this is far from Ashton’s first romance movie, as he previously appeared in classics such as What Happens in Vegas in 2008 with Cameron Diaz.
American actor Ashton has also starred in Down to You (2000), My Boss’s Daughter (2003), and Valentine’s Day (2010).

So, you could say that Mr Kutcher is somewhat of a rom-com king.
However, he took a 12-year break from the genre, with his last rom-com being No Strings Attached in 2011 with Natalie Portman.
On why he has now decided to make a comeback, the star – whose wife is actress Mila Kunis – had nothing but good things to say about his latest project.
‘Honestly, I think I had more fun shooting this movie than I ever had,’ Ashton shared with Variety.
‘It was genuinely a choice. I didn’t need to do it. I didn’t have to do it. It wasn’t like a career-building block. It was like, “I want to do this”.’

He also sung the praises of co-star Reese, adding: ‘I got to be in scenes across from a genuine movie star.
‘She’s such a movie star. It was so wonderful and fun and funny and light.
‘There was never a dark day. There was never a day that everything went wrong. I got spoiled.’
Despite being one of the most loved movie stars, Ashton has been pretty quiet on the film scene over recent years, but incredibly active with his investing.

Rather than spending time in front of the camera, the star has focussed on other ventures, allowing him to build a $200million (£166m) empire.
In fact, in February 2020, Business Insider named Ashton the most active celebrity investor in Silicon Valley and, arguably, the most experienced tech investor in Hollywood, having grown every investment he’s made over the years.

When his acting career started to settle down, Ashton also poured his energy into important causes, using his massive platform to raise awareness of child trafficking and sexual exploitation around the world.
In 2009, he founded the DNA Organisation with then-wife, Demi Moore, with the name later changed to Thorn: Digital Defenders of Children after their divorce.
To date, he’s helped over 6,000 children.
