Manchester City will continue to be a ‘massive problem’ for Arsenal as they demonstrated their ability to fight for results in their comeback win over Tottenham, believes Jamie Carragher.
The Premier League champions found themselves 2-0 down at half-time at home to Spurs after late goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Emerson Royal just before the break.
Things looked ropy for Pep Guardiola’s side but they were immense in the second period, with a Riyad Mahrez brace and goals from Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland securing a 4-2 victory.
Liverpool legend Carragher says City demonstrated a quality that former Manchester United sides have shown, that they are never beaten, and Premier League leaders Arsenal should be concerned.
‘I think Man City now have got that thing that Manchester United had when I was a player,’ Carragher told Sky Sports. ‘We were competing against them and you’d hear they were 2-0 down but you didn’t believe they’d get beat and Man City have got that right now.
‘I think since May they’ve gone 2-0 behind in the Premier League five times and they haven’t lost one. They’ve won there and drew two.
‘There’s something special about them, we know that, they’re a great team. But that fight, that will to win, that going to the end. When they never know they’re beaten, that’s a real special quality to have.
‘That’s a massive problem for Arsenal this season, it’s been a big problem for Liverpool in the last few years. I think that result tonight for Arsenal will be a real blow.’
The Gunners are still in control at the top of the table, five points ahead of Manchester City before they take on Manchester United this weekend.
