Mikel Arteta has altered Arsenal’s transfer plans after their sensational start to the season, with the Spaniard now insistent that the Gunners need players on ‘another level’.
The club are top of the Premier League table after 12 matches, with the Gunners winning ten, drawing one and losing one in that time.
Arsenal signed the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer, with the club spending around £120m in the process.
However, Arteta was keen on signing a defensive midfielder and the Gunners failed with a deadline day move for Aston Villa ace Douglas Luiz.
There was also significant interest in Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, with the Ukrainians rejecting a £30m bid from Arsenal for the 21-year-old.
Luiz has since signed a new deal at Villa, while Shakhtar reportedly value Mudryk at around £95m.

But in any case, Arteta believes that Arsenal’s strong start to the season must see the club push their ambitions in the transfer market by signing players on a different level to what they previously targeted.
‘With the position we are in right now… it demands another level of player,’ said Arteta.
‘The planning of that period is extremely difficult. First of all because we know the January window, how special it is, the opportunities that you have, the short window that you have. Once you get the player they are straight away competing, so there is not an adaption process.
‘And obviously with the position that we are in right now as well, it demands as well another level of player – and that player has to be available. We will look at everything and let’s see what we can do.’
