Schools have already seen closures this year due to the snow and teacher strikes, and further action is planned.
In England and Wales, nine out of 10 teacher members of the National Education Union (NEU) voted for strike action and the union passed the 50% ballot turnout required by law.
The union has declared seven days of walkouts in February and March, but it has said any individual school will only be affected by four of the days.

Are teachers on strike today?
No, schools in England and Wales are open as normal today (February 14).
There was a strike planned for today, but it was postponed after the union received an updated pay offer to consider.

When are teachers next striking?
In England and Wales, over half of schools (51.7%) closed or partially closed on February 1.
Further NEU strikes are also expected on:
February 28 – North and north-west England, Yorkshire and Humber
March 1 – East Midlands, West Midlands, and the NEU’s eastern region
March 2 – All schools in Wales (postponed from 14 Feb), as well as south-east and south-west England, and London
March 15 and 16 – All schools in England and Wales
NEU teachers in sixth-form colleges in England – who are already striking – will also walk out.

The Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) have already staged 16 days of strike action throughout late January and early February, so no further strikes are confirmed for Scotland.
