Warning: spoilers ahead for Andor episode 9 on Disney Plus.
As the weeks go by, Andor fans have continually expressed how in awe they feel over the Star Wars series, as it masterfully captures the tension and heartbreak of the Empire’s rule over the galaxy.
However, just as they point out in the 2016 Star Wars film Rogue One – which is set five years after the show and saw the debut of Diego Luna as Cassian Andor – there is always hope, and it’s what rebellions are built on.
In episode 9 of Andor, Cassian utters a heartbreaking line to Kino Loy (Andy Serkis), a fellow prisoner and his boss at the Narkina 5 complex, while attempting to convince his superior to consider joining his plan for a jail break.
The line bears particular significance due to the way it mirrors another pivotal moment in Rogue One, near the end of the film when Cassian is speaking to protagonist Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones).
In Andor, when Cassian and Kino are sitting in their respective prison cells, the latter seems reluctant to discuss the idea of plotting an escape.
However, Cassian stresses that no one’s listening to their conversation, as he doesn’t believe the Imperial authorities care at all about what they have to say.
‘You think they care what we say? Nobody’s listening!’ he stresses, with ‘Nobody’s Listening!’ also being chosen as the title of the episode.
Five years later, when Cassian and Jyn are on the planet of Scarif and realise the Death Star is about to kill them, Cassian asks: ‘Do you think anybody’s listening?’
‘I do,’ Jyn responds, shortly before Princess Leia receives the Death Star plans that will set the original Star Wars film trilogy into motion.

Andor fans couldn’t handle the parallels between the similar pieces of dialogue from the series and Rogue One, with one tweeting: ‘The small foreshadows in Andor for Rogue One are genuinely incredible. Especially since they show Cassian’s character development.’
‘This was the first thing I thought of,’ someone else said, alongside a sobbing emoji.
One distraught Twitter user exclaimed in reaction to screenshots of both of the scenes: ‘NOOOOOOO WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME!!?!’

The heartbreaking parallels in #Andor continue….,’ another remarked.
