Americans travel again, highest single day since March 2020
America has roughly at least half the country partially protected against Covid-19, and with that Americans hit the road for the three-day Memorial Day holiday.
This time last year travel was not an option over fears of spreading the virus, but this Memorial Day weekend, Americans travelled by skies and roads.
7.1 million people were screened at US airport checkpoints from Thursday through Sunday – Friday was the highest single travel day since March 2020 when Covid-19 slashed air travel demand, as 1.96 million people were screened.
