Those rumours Aaron Taylor-Johnson is stepping into the role of James Bond are not going away anytime soon amid speculation he ‘met with producers’.
Towards the end of last year chatters emerged the Bullet Train actor was in the mix, alongside names including Henry Cavill and Lucien Laviscount, with Aaron reportedly filming the iconic 007 gunshot opening.
Now it’s been claimed Aaron has met with James Bond chief Barbara Broccoli to discuss stepping into the suave spy’s tuxedo following Daniel Craig’s exit in the film No Time To Die.
According to Puck News, it’s claimed that the meeting went ‘very well’ but added that nothing has been officially confirmed and it is unclear what the next steps will be.
‘The Aaron Taylor-Johnson rumours are true—he sat with producer Barbara Broccoli, and the meeting went well, per sources,’ the report claimed. ‘But while Taylor-Johnson fits the bill—great actor, British, fits the younger direction the Broccolis want to go, accomplished but not particularly famous—he’s about to be a much bigger star. If Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff Kraven the Hunter or Universal’s Ryan Gosling two-hander The Fall Guy works, Taylor-Johnson might end up, ironically, too famous to take on Bond.’
It was reported last month that Aaron had filmed a version of the iconic 007 gunshot opening as part of a ‘top secret screen test’ for the part at Pinewood Studios.

A film source said: ‘Aaron has impressed bosses so much that he has filmed one of the franchise’s famous gun barrel teaser scenes, something all the Bond actors do. That move takes him a step closer to signing a deal.
‘Bosses at the brand were really impressed with his unique blend of acting intensity and his impressive back catalogue of action films.’
It has also been claimed that Emily in Paris actor Lucien is a contender to play 007 after he impressed Broccoli with his portrayal of heart-throb Alfie in the Netflix series.

The 30-year-old actor would fit the bill as Daniel’s replacement as the iconic spy as producers are looking to cast a star who can play the part for the next 15 years.
A source told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: ‘Lucien ticks all of the boxes. He is a super talented actor, is extremely handsome and in the past 18 months has won lots of new fans since he joined Emily in Paris.
‘Bond bosses are already saying how you can see him in the 007 tuxedo, how dapper and fitting to the role he will look.’
Despite the latest round of rumours, with names including Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and Rege-Jean Page also thrown in the mix over the years, producers Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson said last year it’s still ‘early days’ in casting.
‘And when we cast Bond, it’s a 10-, 12-year commitment. So he’s probably thinking, “Do I really want that thing?” Not everybody wants to do that. It was hard enough getting [Daniel Craig to do it].’
Michael added to Variety: ‘And he was in his early 30s at the time!’
‘The thing is, it’s going to be a couple of years off,’ Barbara said.
