Breaking News: A girl has been stabbed in the neck at M&S in Burnley – Video
Police and ambulance services were called to Burnley town centre, in Lancashire, amid reports of two stabbings. One girl stabbed in the neck by an old Asian man.
Two people have been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a knife attack near the M&S store.
Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested and is in custody.
A crowd can be seen gathered around the area with a huge police presence in place this morning with many videos circulating social media.
Two Women stabbed
It has now been confirmed that two women were stabbed by a 57-year-old man who apparently suffers from mental health issues.
Both women have been taken to hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A 57-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.
Inquiries are ongoing but police believe this is an isolated incident and no-one else is thought to have been involved.
A knife has been recovered and officers have stepped up patrols in the area, police have confirmed.
