Daily Mirror – A decade to fix our broken NHS
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer will say it will take 10 years to reform the NHS, which a report found is in “critical condition” after Conservative reforms and cuts, the Daily Mirror reports.
The paper’s headline reads: “A decade to fix our broken NHS.”
Today, the prime minister will unveil a 10-year plan to reform the health services. Like many of the papers, the Mirror calls the report “damning” and says the review exposes a “shocking deterioration in the nation’s health”, the paper adds.
NHS in ‘critical condition’ amid widespread collapse in patient access to care
The NHS is in a “critical condition” amid a widespread collapse in patient access to care, according to a landmark review.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has vowed the NHS will now undergo unprecedented decade-long reform which he will dub the “biggest reimagining of our NHS since its birth”. Lord Darzi’s report into the state of the health service, ordered by the new Government, found it had been “starved” of funding and hit by botched reforms during the Tory austerity years.
A&E queues more than doubled, crumbling hospital buildings were neglected and the nation’s health deteriorated as waits for treatment grew. Lord Darzi, a top surgeon and independent Peer, said: “Although I have worked for the NHS for more than 30 years I have been shocked by what I have found during this investigation – not just in the health service but in the state of the nation’s health.
Prince Harry’s 40th birthday bash – Duke heads off with closest pals
Prince Harry is planning a big getaway birthday bash with his “closest mates” but NOT Meghan Markle, it is claimed.
As the tearaway royal looks set to celebrate his milestone 40th birthday, it has been reported that Harry is set to head off on a lads’ holiday to “enjoy a weekend getaway with a few of his closest mates”.
And the claims, that appeared in The Sun last night, say this will follow a birthday gathering with the family at his mansion in Montecito, California – and it is there that Meghan will stay behind with their children, Archie, 1five, and Lilibet, three.
Harry and Meghan, who hold the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex, shocked the royal world in 2020 by quitting working royal life and moving to the United States. Harry recently said his two children are the “best gifts” he ever received – but it is claimed the former star royal has been growing more and more dissatisfied with his new life away from the UK.
