🇪🇺 Monday Morning Mood: Missiles, Mishaps and (Maybe) Meloni

It’s Monday in Europe and the news is as lively as your first espresso shot. Russia’s claiming it’s marched into new parts of Ukraine (Kyiv says, “not quite”), while Poland is scrambling jets just in case any of that “special military operation” goes astray.

Over in Italy, the public had a chance to vote on big changes to labour laws and citizenship—but with barely anyone turning up, it’s more “siesta” than “referendum revolution.”

Meanwhile, Poland’s election count has stirred up drama, with officials now checking whether someone swapped numbers as well as ballots. Europe’s back to business—and it’s anything but boring.

A lot of European media is being dominated by the latest in Gaza as Italians took to the streets in their thousands to demand a ceasefire and the Israeli authorities intercepted an aid yacht (carrying Greta Thunberg) stopping them from reaching the strip.

The clashes between protesters and the National Guard in Los Angeles is another hot topic for every publication – everywhere. The violence in the US is escualating and there are no signs that either side are backing down.
