Holidaymakers stranded overnight after bad weather grounds flights
Holidaymakers trapped overnight at Heathrow had to sleep on plastic terminal chairs after Atlantic storms grounded dozens of flights.
Heathrow and Gatwick Airports cancelled 125 flights on Sunday into Monday – impacting roughly 10,000 EasyJet and British Airways passengers.
After forming in the Atlantic Ocean in late June, Hurricane Beryl pounded the Caribbean, parts of the US and Mexico, sending a wave of torrential rain. But its impact is being held hundreds of miles away in Britain, with torrential train and air traffic control issues sending the major London airports into chaos.

So far, the great British summer has been a bit of a let down. While we did have a few days of warm and sunny weather last month, with a heatwave declared and highs of 31°C reported, our luck hasn’t held out and instead we’ve been subjected to rain and clouds.
There have even been yellow Met Office weather warnings for rain and thunderstorms in place in recent days – just to rub it in. Wimbledon has even seen lower than average attendance figures as queueing fans and Centre Court got drenched.

Tuesday’s front pages continue its coverage of UK politics as the new Labour government begin setting out their plans for the country. Much of the coverage is around defence spending following a Russian attack on a Ukrainian hospital.
The right-leaning newspapers claim the new chancellor – Rachel Reeves – is laying the groundwork for tax hikes following her first speech as Chancellor in which she said Labour had inherited the worst economy since WW2. The publications argue the economy the Tories inherited from the last Labour government – in 2010 – was far worse than today’s situation.
Elsewhere, England’s upcoming Euros semi-finals make several tabloid front pages – and not surprisingly, dominates the back pages.
