M25 is open again after huge closure that everyone stayed away from
The weekend was a challenging experience for the countless drivers who depend on the M25 daily.
The closure of junctions 10 and 11 due to extensive roadworks marked an unprecedented event, being the first time such a significant segment of the motorway was shut during daylight hours.
Motorists were directed onto an 11.5-mile detour route, resulting in disruption for the quaint Surrey villages adjacent to this section.
At one point, a queue of vehicles stretched five miles as a bridge was demolished and a new gantry was installed, exacerbating the situation further.
However, the feared “Carmageddon” scenario did not fully materialise, as many commuters seemed to have heeded the warnings to minimise their travel as much as possible.
Workers achieved “good progress” and successfully finished the installation ahead of schedule, completing it before 6 am today.
