British millionaire Colin Armstrong has been rescued by police days after he had been forcibly taken from his residence in Ecuador.
Cesar Augusto Zapata Correa, Ecuador’s police chief, took on December 20 to social media platform X to announce Mr Armstrong had been freed and was alive and well.
He wrote: “On the road to Manabi, our units released citizen Colin A., kidnapped days prior in Los Rios. At the moment he is safe and healthy.”
The police General Commander added nine people believed to be linked to the crime have been arrested so far.
Moreover, he shared a picture showing the Brit wearing an oversized dark-coloured jumper and police cap while flanked by police officers. His face was blurred in the photograph, but he seemed to be smiling.

Mr Armstrong’s kidnapping involved more than 15 gangsters and took place in the early hours of Saturday.
The illegal operation targeting the Yorkshire business reportedly saw the kidnappers dragging the man from his home Rancho Rodeo Grande and bundling him into a black BMW he owns with his Colombian partner.
The crime sparked a large police probe, which also involved British intelligence officers, according to a source inside Ecuador’s security forces.
