Metal Gear Solid Delta – the naked truth (Picture: Konami)
It’s not going to blow anyone’s mind but the first look at the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake has debuted alongside a host of other new trailers.
Microsoft warned in advance that they wouldn’t be saying anything about first party games or the Activision Blizzard acquisition, but there still managed to be a few neat surprises during Wednesday evening’s Xbox Partner Preview – starting with the first gameplay trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
Better known to its friends as the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, the game was announced back in May by Sony, but only via a brief pre-rendered trailer. The one below shows off the actual in-game graphics, as Naked Snake (who is not entirely naked) sneaks about in full Rambo mode.
The mud and the bank of the river moving isn’t entirely convincing but the animals are very good, especially that vulture looking thing towards the end.
Metal Gear Solid Delta is being handled in-house by Konami, with help from Virtuos, who developed this week’s remaster collection.
Although it is a remake, little is expected to change in terms of gameplay for Delta; Konami is also keeping the original voice recordings from back in 2004.
The remake doesn’t have any kind of release date – not even a year – but it will launch only on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
The whole Xbox showcase was less than 30 minutes long, so you’re probably best just to watch the whole thing below, but it also features Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which was revealed to have an Animal Crossing style mini-game called DonDoko Island, which seems like good fun.
Promising survival horror Still Wakes The Deep was announced as coming to Game Pass in early 2024, while Alan Wake 2, RoboCop: Rogue City, and The Ark: Survival Ascended all got launch trailers ahead of their imminent releases.

The majority of games featured were indie titles, which will probably be the norm for these events if Microsoft makes them a regular thing, with Dungeons Of Hinterberg looking particularly good (and confirmed for Game Pass).
Also featured were Ikaro: Will Not Die, from the makers of Velocity; Spirt Of The North 2, which features a raven and a fox teaming up; historical city building sim Manor Lords; and the open beta for online shooter The Finals.
Like we said, nothing to set the internet alight but at least Microsoft is talking to its fans, unlike a certain rival whose name rhymes with bony.
