Does your character have romance on the mind? (Picture: Bethesda)
Easily one of the most anticipated games of the year, Starfield is now finally due to be released to the public (after early access options saw some heading into space already), but will romance be on the mind?
Despite some mixed early reviews, more and more gamers are getting to grips with the various features of Starfield – from fast travel to space combat and character creation to lock-picking.
Only available on Xbox and PC, Bethesda’s latest offering sees gamers set to explore an incredibly vast map, full of very different characters.
So, with the game set for full release on September 6, which characters can you begin a relationship with?
Here’s what you need to know.
How many Starfield characters can have a relationship?
Four characters can form a romantic attachment to your lonely companion in Starfield.
The opportunity for romance was confirmed by Bethesda Game Studios ahead of Starfield’s release.
The romance options in Starfield are less steamy than some other role-playing games though, especially Baldur’s Gate 3.
However, there is a set of characters that you can form a relationship with, potentially even leading to marriage betrothal ceremonies!
Which Starfield characters can have a relationship?
Andreja, Barrett, Sam Coe, and Sarah Morgan are the characters identified as being open to romance so far.

While the game is still relatively new, and there may be more, each of these characters can have romantic interactions with your playable character, depending on your dialogue and action choices.
How to romance Starfield characters
As you go through your journey playing Starfield, your choices will affect your romantic options.
Each character open to romance will react differently to choices like intimidation, exploration, breaking the law, and factionalism.
How to romance Starfield characters
Andreja will respond to decisive actions showing confidence – like using the intimidation skill . Convexly, she will react badly to indecision, self-doubt, and harming innocent characters.
Barrett generally responds well to ‘good karma’ type decisions, working within the law and helping others – meaning he’ll react negatively to criminal actions and taking innocent lives. An initially private individual, he’ll also not respond well to probing questions about his past until you’ve been together for a while.

Sam Coe reacts positively to your typical cowboy-esq traits – libertarianism, justice, and bringing in bad guys. The flip side of this means he’ll react poorly to ‘big government’ type decisions or supports, as well as law-breaking.
Sarah Morga reacts well to anything that benefits Constellation as a group. Outside of that, exploration, working within the law, and peaceful conflict resolutions will see her react positively. However, if you ridicule Constellation or break the law, these decisions will put her off you.
