Neighbours’ theme tune is without a doubt one of TV’s most iconic, and with the show’s unprecedented return less than a month away, the catchy track has received an exciting new update.
Originally sung by Barry Crocker upon the show’s debut in 1985, the Neighbours theme has become synonymous with the show and the residents of Ramsay Street that it was once branded TV’s most iconic song.
In fact, it has been re-recorded eight times since the original, with Crocker providing the vocals to the second iteration as well, before Greg Hind took over, followed by a duet from Paul Norton and Wendy Stapleton.
Janine Maunder lent her voice to the theme tune in the early noughties, producing what we reckon is one of the most recognisable iterations of the track – and our personal fave – with Sandra de Jong following up in the 2007 with yet another superb version.
Stephanie Angelini and Daniel Boys’ version took centre stage in 2013, followed by Garth Ploog 2015, before Bonnie Anderson, who played Bea Nillson on the show, recorded a version of her own, which was used until Neighbours concluded on all Channel 5 last year.
Neighbours returns to our screens next month – and we couldn’t be any more excited about it (Picture: Amazon Freevee)
The UK broadcaster shockingly axed the popular soap, resulting in fan outcry and petitions, which – despite Neighbours going off the air after a star-studded finale – proved successful, with Amazon Freevee swooping in to rescue the series.
We’ll be forever grateful.
The new chapter of Neighbours will debut on the free ad-supported streaming service next month, with episodes dropping daily from September 18 and, ahead of its premiere, fans have been given a sneak peek of the brand new theme tune.

A selection of iconic episodes are currently available to stream, with EVERY episode from 2012 to 2022 also on offer, meaning you can catch right up in time for the show’s return in September.
The new rendition comes from Chris Sebastian, who rose to fame on The Voice Australia, and it’s every bit as beautiful as we hoped it would be and feels like the perfect fit – or should we say, the perfect blend – of old and new.
Neighbours shared news of Chris’ voice being used on the new recording, with a video of cast members including Rebekah Elmaloglou, Annie Jones and Ryan Moloney, who play Terese Willis, Jane Harris and Toadie Rebecci respectively, all singing along.
