A few weeks ago in Coronation Street, Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) was given the news that he had been nominated for the Young Funeral Director of the Year award.
Yes, that is a thing.
Todd told the likes of Eileen (Sue Cleaver) and Glenda (Jodie Prenger) that he wasn’t really fussed about it and only took part for the pay rise – which turned out to be non-existent and just a lie that Eileen told.
However, the ironed shirt and pristine suit that Todd was wearing on the day of the awards suggested that he cared a lot more about what was ahead than he initially let on.

It became apparent that Todd’s success was making his colleague and boss George (Tony Maudsley) somewhat jealous, as he chose to bin a card from Troy at RestEasy, who wanted to talk to Todd about his career.
In upcoming episodes, Todd finds that card and confides in Glenda about his situation, who says that he should ask for a payrise.

When George is evasive, Todd ends up calling Troy and asks for a meeting.
As their chat gets underway, Troy offers Todd a job at RestEasy on a salary of £30k plus a bonus.
