Hollyoaks’ Tamara Wall has been speaking about how gutted she was to be axed from the Channel 4 soap after 10 years.
Grace Black was sent to prison after she took the fall for the recent heist, ensuring that Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring) and Zara Morgan (Kelly Condron) got off scot free.
It was a huge moment for Hollyoaks fans, many of which can remember Grace’s arrival way back in 2013.
She has been a part of some absolutely iconic storylines in the village, including her relationship with Trevor and Esther, which highlighted the topic of surrogacy, and the major car crash in 2016 after her affair with Kim.
Grace was also part of a soap-classic whodunit storyline, which saw her as one of the main suspects following Fraser Black’s death. She’s been part of kidnappings, stunts and many, many fights – she is a true soap legend, so it’s no wonder Tamara Wall was upset when she got told about the character’s departure.
‘It’s absolutely devastating. When I got told, I bawled my eyes out for three days, I was so upset – it’s been the best time of my life. It wasn’t my decision, but I understand. It’s the name of the game, and Grace was going to get her comeuppance at some point. In the end, she probably deserved it. But I’m sure she’ll find her way out eventually, she’ll be back’, she told OK! Magazine.

Tamara added that while she wanted a big exit for her character, she is happy that the door has been left open for her, meaning there’s every possible chance we could see Grace in the future:
‘There’s part of me that wants the big, dramatic exit of being killed off. But there’s too much of me that loves that they’ve kept the door open’, she said.
‘I can’t tell you how lovely everyone was when people found out I was leaving, they were gobsmacked. They were really sad and that made me really happy! It’s a nice feeling to know you’ll be missed.’
It’s not just Tamara and the Hollyoaks co-stars who were shocked by the news. When Grace’s final scenes aired last night (July 18), many fans took to Twitter to share their love for the character and say their goodbyes, with some arguing it wasn’t the right decision to axe her.
‘I love Grace! Can’t believe she’s decided to leave!’, one fan said.
Another passionate fan wrote: ‘Goodbye grace black!! it has been an honour watching you over the past 9 years but it was especially an honour to watch grace and trevor’s love story. 12 year old me will forever be grateful for you and oaks village will never be the same again. i’ll forever miss u.’
We’ll miss you too, Grace.
