Manchester United are finally on the verge of sealing an agreement with Inter to sign Andre Onana, with Erik ten Hag speaking to the goalkeeper in the last 48 hours.
A breakthrough in talks on Thursday night saw the two clubs settle on a fee of around £47million – £4.3m of which will be add-ons – but have been discussing the structure of the payments since then.
There have also been suggestions in the Italian press that Inter have been distracted by the saga surrounding Romelu Lukaku, with the Nerazzurri pulling out of talks to sign the Chelsea striker despite weeks of negotiations.
But transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting that a deal for Onana to join United is now ’99.9% completed’ and he is set to travel to Manchester imminently.
Ten Hag has called Onana up in the past 48 hours to reassure him that there are no issues with the deal and United are confident everything will be rubberstamped in time for the Cameroonian to join the squad when they fly to the United States on Wednesday for their pre-season tour.
The Athletic are also reporting that the deal is advancing, with personal terms set to be formalised with the 27-year-old later today.
Onana is already believed to have an outline agreement with United and is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year deal.

If there is any delay in competing the final paperwork and Onana does not sign in time to fly with the squad to New York on Wednesday, he will join the pre-season tour at a later date.
United have a very busy pre-season schedule, taking on Arsenal in New York next Saturday before further games against Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in San Diego, Houston and Las Vegas respectively.
With David de Gea having left the club and Dean Henderson still recovering from injury, Ten Hag wants to get Onana in – and mixing with his new team-mates – as soon as possible.

Onana, who came through the academy at Barcelona before moving to Ajax, is a proficient passer and incredibly composed with the ball at his feet.
Ten Hag has been eager to upgrade in the goalkeeper position with De Gea a much weaker ball-player who contributes very little to build-up play, forcing United to go far more direct from their keeper than their manager ideally would have liked last season.
Onana’s arrival is set to clear the path for Henderson to join Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal, with the English keeper having impressed on loan at the City Ground before getting injured.
