Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) is set to come face to face with con-woman ex Faye in upcoming Emmerdale scenes, and the meeting will leave her completely horrified.
Faye, who has been arrested after conning Mary out of thousands of pounds and leaving her for dead, will try to convince Mary to change her statement by giving her a sob story about how things are going for her.
When Mary isn’t taken in by her story, things turn nasty as she reveals that she is still in possession of one of Mary’s intimate photos.
Mary is horrified when Faye tells her that she will spread the photo around if she doesn’t change her witness statement, and is unsure of what to do.
Though Mary is conflicted by the situation, actress Louise Jameson knows exactly what she would do if she were to find herself in Mary’s situation.

‘Personally I would brazen it out. I think she should go for Faye’s jugular,’ Louise revealed.
‘That’s why a lot of rape survivors come forward, isn’t it, because it’s not for them, it’s to protect other women who could end up in their situation. So it’s a kind of sisterhood that’s happening.’
Though Louise found it ‘sad’ that Mary’s love interest turned out to be a con-artist, she praised the writers for raising awareness of the topic.

‘How clever of the writers to come up with the storyline. It’s a very important one, elderly people being scammed. Because, you know, you live alone, you’re over 70, you’re not particularly brilliant with technology, you’re very vulnerable in that situation.
‘Those of us in act three of our lives need to be really alert to being scammed, really alert to it. I would say to anybody, if you’re in the remotest doubt about a phone call or an email or a text then ask a neighbour, ask a relation, ask a friendly person in the pub “is this legitimate?” Let somebody else cast an eye over it.

‘I do it all the time. I run emails by my son and a very good friend who takes care of all my technical stuff. I send a lot of emails via him saying “Is this a scam? Should I ignore this?”
‘They can somehow get hold of, like, my son’s voice and they ring up and say “I’ve lost my phone. Can you transfer £200 into this bank account?” Actually sounding like your children. I personally haven’t had that but I know of it. Terrifying.’
