Manchester United face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the signature of Atalanta ace Rasmus Hojlund.
With Harry Kane deemed too expensive and out of reach, United have decided on Hojlund as their first choice striker this summer.
The 20-year-old Denmark international lacks the scoring record and prestige of Kane but he’s tipped to develop into one of the deadliest strikers in Europe.
Hojlund, a boyhood United fan, has already agreed personal terms over a move to the Theatre of Dreams.
But Atalanta’s £86m asking price – which is roughly twice of what United had been willing to pay – is proving a significant stumbling block to the Red Devils’ plans.
It’s clear that United must sign a striker after stumbling through last season with an injury-prone Anthony Martial and having to sign Wout Weghorst on loan.

But Fabrizio Romano says Paris Saint-Gemain could scupper United’s hopes as they’ve made an enquiry to sign Hojlund.
With doubts over Kylian Mbappe’s future and Lionel Messi departed, the French club are keen on signing a new striker.
Hojlund’s preference would be to join United but PSG do not face the same financial constraints and could afford a fee closer to Atalanta’s asking price.
United, by contrast, have already spent £55m of their £120m budget and that’s set to move past the £100m mark when Andre Onana joins from Inter Milan.
