Love Island star Zara McDermott is the latest celebrity linked to this year’s Strictly Come Dancing line-up, which would make her the first islander to appear on the BBC programme.
The 26-year-old entered the iconic villa on day 15 in 2018 and quickly caught the eye of Adam Collard. Their connection wasn’t enough for the public and she was dumped without him ten days later.
Following her exit, Zara has fronted serious documentaries for BBC on a range of topics including revenge porn, and disordered eating. Plus, she’s been in a long-term relationship with Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson.
The long-running ballroom competition was won in 2022 by celeb cameraman-turned-dancer Hamza Yassin and his professional partner Jowita Przystal.
Naturally, with the next series only two months away, rumours about the line-up for the 2023 competition have started, with many famous names in the running including the former Love Island star.
A source shared: ‘Zara is the perfect signing for Strictly, not only is she beautiful and glamorous but she is hardworking and will take being on the show very seriously.’

The insider added to MailOnline: ‘She’s absolutely loved the experience of documentary making and is over the moon to further her relationship with the BBC by signing up to Strictly.’
Metro.co.uk understands that nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
Also, rumoured to be taking part in the upcoming series is Adam Thomas.

The Waterloo actor is no stranger to the programme and its content as he previously joked that he wanted to experience its infamous curse.
The ‘Strictly curse’ is a term used to describe when celebrities end up in romantic relationships with their professional dance partners.
The Sun reported that he said: ‘Bring it all on. I love a bit of glitz and glam.
‘I just want to experience the Strictly curse.’
Adam, 34, was very much joking as he married his long-term girlfriend Caroline Daly in 2017. The couple have children Elsie-Rose, five, and son Teddy, eight, who plays his son Tommy on Waterloo Road.
Metro.co.uk has reached out to Zara McDermott’s reps for comment.
Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year.
