Piers Morgan has expressed his opinion that the scandal plaguing the BBC over an unnamed presenter has ‘put another nail in the coffin of our trust’ in the broadcaster.
It was recently alleged that a top BBC presenter had paid a teenager more than £35,000 for sexually explicit pictures, from when the youngster in question, who is now 20, was 17 years old.
However, the allegations made by the teenager’s mother have been described as ‘rubbish’ by a lawyer representing the young person, who stated: ‘For the avoidance of doubt, nothing inappropriate or unlawful has taken place between our client and the BBC personality and the allegations reported in The Sun newspaper are “rubbish”,’ as reported by BBC News At Six.
Nonetheless, the parents of the youngster have said that they stand by their claims.
The Metropolitan Police said that they are conducting further inquiries to establish if any crime has been committed, after BBC representatives met detectives on Monday morning.
The BBC confirmed that the male star at the centre of the allegations, who has not been named, had been suspended, with a spokesperson saying in a statement: ‘The BBC takes any allegations seriously and we have robust internal processes in place to proactively deal with such allegations.’

On Monday’s Piers Morgan Uncensored on TalkTV, the host of the TV show delivered his view on the current state of the situation.
‘It seems a warped sense of priorities here and it’s causing a lot of unrest amid other BBC staff,’ the 58-year-old said.
‘It seems to be a failure, wrapped up in a fiasco inside a farce against the backdrop of the scandal of Philip Schofield at ITV, which rocked British television and the country, frankly, the hesitation looks even more unforgivable.
He continued: ‘And whatever the truth about these allegations, and we do need to get to the truth very quickly, BBC leaders have managed to put another nail In the coffin of our trust in the BBC.’
On Sunday evening, Morgan mocked the way in which the BBC was covering the controversy.

Someone on Twitter posted a screengrab of a BBC news report outside of the broadcaster’s office while sharing updates on the scandal.
The tweet read: ‘BBC host asks BBC reporter standing outside the BBC about allegations against unnamed BBC star. BBC reporter says they “haven’t been able to confirm” whether the BBC presenter has been suspended by the BBC.’
Morgan responded to it by quote-tweeting the post and writing: ‘Ridiculous.’
‘We do need to get to the truth very quickly,’ the TalkTV presenter said.
