Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has marked her 1st wedding anniversary after announcing that she’d been diagnosed with breast cancer, thanking her husband for being by her side.
In May this year, the professional dancer shared her diagnosis with her fans, writing in her statement that she was ‘determined to get back on that dance floor’.
The 32-year-old later reassured fans that she hopes to return to the Strictly dancefloor this year, after undergoing a single mastectomy.
In a new post shared on Instagram, Amy commemorated her wedding to Ben Jones, who she wed in a stunning ceremony in Wales in July 2022.
‘One year since our special day with our favourite people. What I would do right now to re live this perfect day,’ she wrote in the caption.
‘Not the anniversary or year we certainly had planned but I am sure and determined to have many more better ones with you!’

The Strictly fan-favourite continued: ‘Thank you for being by my side, spoiling me, being Mr positive when I’m not and choosing to love me! Love you always ❤️.’
She the added the following hashtags: ‘#happyanniversary #ourweddingday #lovealways #hardtimesmakestrongpeople.’
Several Strictly stars wished Amy and Ben a happy anniversary, including Jowita Przystał, Carlos Gu and Nancy Xu.
Former athlete Colin Jackson, who competed on the BBC programme in 2005, recollected being at Amy’s wedding, as he wrote: ‘It was a lovely day, and I feel blessed to have shared it with you guys. Happy anniversary, and yes, let’s stay positive ❤️❤️.’

In more messages posted on her Instagram Story, Amy stressed just how much her husband Ben is there for her.
‘I know I can beat anything with you by my side,’ she wrote, as she shared photographs from their special day.
‘And may we always be by each other’s side! Love you always.’
During a recent interview with Metro.co.uk, Strictly head judge Shirley Ballas expressed her admiration for Amy, describing her as ‘one of the strongest women I know’.
‘I prefer to write letters, so I’ve been writing letters to her and have sent her flowers to cheer her up,’ said Shirley. ‘The whole group has come around Amy.’
The TV star continued: ‘She never feels sorry for herself and just gets on with it and I am sure she is going to do the same [now]. She is determined to be back on this [next] series.’
