Conor McGregor accused of sex assault after NBA game
Irish UFC fighter Conor McGregor has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman after an NBA finals basketball game in Miami. The alleged incident occurred in a bathroom at Kaseya Center, according to a legal letter sent to McGregor.
McGregor’s lawyer says the allegations are false and that McGregor will “not be intimidated.”
Miami Police have opened an investigation.
Both the UFC and the Miami Heat, the host of the NBA Finals game, have acknowledged the allegations and are gathering more information.
The woman’s lawyer, Ariel Mitchell, claims that her client was forced into a men’s bathroom by NBA and Miami Heat security guards before being violently assaulted by McGregor.
According to Mitchell’s legal letter, the woman managed to escape the bathroom but left her purse behind, which she later retrieved after pleading with security guards. The letter alleges that security personnel for the league, team, and arena were complicit in aiding and abetting McGregor by trapping and isolating the woman.
Mitchell has obtained video footage that partially captures the alleged incident. The City of Miami Police received a report regarding the incident on June 11.
