The i says Rishi Sunak will today seek to move on from the latest Boris Johnson drama with a new push on technology and tax policy.
The Prime Minister’s predecessor warned that the Conservative party “needs urgently to recapture its sense of momentum” as he resigned from his seat in Parliament.
Allies of Mr Sunak insisted that his policy agenda was delivering the promises of the last election manifesto, despite the rise in taxation and delays to key pledges.
Energy Secretary Grant Shapps said the Government was “following a fundamentally Conservative approach to the world”. He told the BBC: “I think we are doing proper Conservative things, actually, that the vast majority of the country wants to see us do.
