Eamonn Holmes has taken aim at Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield for appearing to present This Morning ‘drunk’ after the National Television Awards.
The pair had turned up in 2016 after that year’s ceremonies still dressed in the same clothes as the night before and were unusually giddy.
It had been a somewhat iconic moment at the time, with clips going viral across the world – and in 2019 they joked about the moment with Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly on the show.
Holly told the pair she was ‘trying to hold it together,’ and laughed recalling ‘those crazy days.’
‘She added: ‘I remember thinking, “Is this OK? Is anyone going to come in and stop us?”
Eamonn has now slammed the situation in an interview on GB News with Dan Wootton, in which he said it was wrong for them to be ‘advocating’ alcohol while he and Ruth Langsford had apparently not been allowed to advertise chocolate.

‘They have been allowed to turn up the next day advocating the use of drink – or something else, I don’t know – and sit on a couch [like] “I’m so drunk, I haven’t been to bed,” whatever, whatever,’ he said.
‘And yet ITV, the legacy of Ant McPartlin – lovely fella – who was in a driving accident where people were injured when he was under the influence of drunk. And yet they can promote that?’
Ant was involved in a car accident in 2018 when he was driving under the influence of alcohol, for which he was fined and received a 20-month ban from driving; it occurred two years after the apparently tipsy presenting of This Morning.
Eamonn went on to claim: ‘Ruth and I were prevented from advertising chocolate in an advert because it is a poisonous product. It would be poisonous, to advertise chocolate is poisonous and you wouldn’t be allowed to do it.’

‘Phillip can sell cars, she can sell anything else – she’s worried about not being able to sell anything now because of her image may well be damaged because she’s associated with Phillip. But these are rules for one and rules for another. Does that make me bitter? Maybe it does.’
He added that the situation on This Morning in 2016 was ‘either an act, in which case it’s false, or they are drunk, in which case it should not be allowed.’
The moment in question saw the pair open the show with Holly telling cameras viewers might have noticed ‘we’re still in the same clothes,’ adding: ‘I haven’t been home yet. I came straight here.’
She then stood up and showed a stain on her dress, where she had dropped mustard on it after playing Pie Face at Ant’s house.
Phillip had also discussed the ‘drunken’ moment with Ant and Dec on This Morning in 2019, and said they had it together enough to be allowed on TV that morning.
‘Our boss was quiet in the gallery so we thought everything is fine – although we did hear him say, “Give them another drink.”‘

Holly added that it was something they could only do once, adding ‘never again.’
The dig at Holly and Phillip’s apparently drunken antics on This Morning came amid a series of shock accusations from former ITV star Eamonn, who claimed the young runner Phillip admitted to having an affair with would be brought to the studio via taxi on Friday mornings from Phillip’s home.
On Tuesday’s interview – the third part of the GB News talk – he also claimed he was now ’embarrassed and ashamed’ over how he had supported the presenter when he came out as gay on This Morning.

Phil has now left This Morning and ITV as a whole after admitting to lying about an affair with a young male runner on the show.
He was dropped by his agent of 35 years as a result and will no longer host the British Soap Awards, which would’ve been his last public commitment, and on Tuesday was dropped as a Prince’s Trust ambassador, while the future of This Morning remains unclear.
Dan Wootton Tonight airs weekdays from 9pm on GB News.
