Ukraine war: Russian air strikes target Kyiv for third night running
Explosions shook the Ukrainian capital once again as Russia targeted Kyiv for the third consecutive night, resulting in several buildings catching fire.
Officials stated the fires were caused by debris falling from the explosions, as Ukraine’s air defences successfully intercepted over 20 drones. At least one person has been killed.
In response to another night of drone attacks on Kyiv, Ukraine has responded with attacks on Moscow. There was only minor damage to a few buildings in the Russian capital, and there have been no reports of serious injuries, according to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
The attack on Kyiv saw more than 20 kamikaze drones according to the military administration in Kyiv. So far, one person is reported dead and three others have been injured in a fire in a multi-story building in the southern Holosiivskyi district.
The administration expressed concerns about people being potentially trapped under the rubble as the two upper floors were destroyed. Additionally, in the Darnytskyi district, located across the Dnipro River, two private buildings were set ablaze, and several cars were damaged.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko described the latest attack as “massive” and urged residents to remain in shelters for their safety. After three hours, the air raid alert was lifted, indicating that the Russian air assault had temporarily ceased. This recent attack marks the 17th assault on the capital since the beginning of May, including a rare daytime attack on Monday.
