The coastguard has rubbed salt into a driver’s already salty wounds after their car got washed out to sea.
‘You can’t park there sir,’ a spokesperson joked on social media after their team was called to Trevaunance Cove on the north coast of Cornwall.
The hapless driver parked their sporty black BMW on the beach but did not account for the tide, which duly came in and took it away.
Emergency rescuers were called at around 8.30am yesterday and made sure no one was in the car, before a tow truck arrived to remove it.

People were quick to poke fun at the driver’s woes online.
One joked: ‘The lengths some people will go to avoid the £3 car park fee!’
Another added: ‘Did someone forget to tell the tide that BMWs can park anywhere they want?’
