Disney Plus subscribers have expressed their upset after finding out that multiple titles are set to be removed from the platform as part of cost-cutting measures.
In the coming days, the company is set to pull content from both Disney Plus and American subscription service Hulu, with several recently-released programmes impacted by the move, including Willow and Big Shot.
Christine McCarthy, the chief financial officer of The Walt Disney Company, told investors that the company was ‘in the process of reviewing the content on our DTC [direct to consumer] services to align with the strategic changes in our approach to content curation’.
She continued: ‘As a result, we will be removing certain content from our streaming platforms.’
A Disney representative confirmed to Variety that at least four dozen titles were being dropped from Disney Plus, with the total list obtained by the publication totalling 56 releases.
In addition to the aforementioned titles, the other shows being taken down from the site include dystopian TV series Y: The Last Man, Kat Dennings’ Dollface and the 2022 remake of Cheaper By The Dozen, starring Zach Braff and Gabrielle Union.

One individual disgruntled by the news pointed out how recently Big Shot came out, after it premiered in 2021 before its second season came out last year.
‘Isn’t that big shot show nearly brand new?!’ they tweeted.
‘If I was a creative working in Hollywood I would never create something for streaming. At a moments notice, all your work can just disappear.’
‘Noooo not Willow. I actually like that show!’ someone else wrote, while another remarked: ‘They should keep The World According to Jeff Goldblum. That’s actually really good to watch.’
Someone else pointed out that in their view, it doesn’t matter whether or not the titles affected by the cull are deemed good quality or not.
‘Anyone debating the quality of these shows (and Willow is great, idc) is entirely missing the point. All of these are pieces of art which both creators and fans have serious personal investment in, not corporate products to be tossed aside depending on how much money they make,’ they stated.
Here is a list of titles affected.
