A one-day-old puppy was left crying out for help after a heartless owner put it in a carrier bag with a brick and dumped it inside a bin.
The poor little dog was discovered by Helen Cooper who was out running when she heard what she thought was the sound of a broken children’s toy coming from a park bin in Derby.
But the screaming noise was in-fact the poor little dog yelping after it had been left completely helpless on Sunday morning.
Helen immediately checked inside the litter bin near the entrance to Chaddesden Park and found the pup half in and half out of a plastic bag that had been weighed down with a brick.
After rescuing the newborn puppy, Helen took him home and then to a nearby vet where he is now recovering, but she is furious with the callous owner who abandoned him.
She said: ‘It’s absolutely disgusting. Even if the owners had a dog that got pregnant accidentally and they couldn’t afford to keep the puppies, there’s no need to put a living thing into a bin.
‘No reason. It’s awful.’

The tiny boy, who is small enough to fit in the palm of a hand, is believed to be a spaniel or cockapoo.
He fortunately had no visible injuries and is now being hand-reared by a vet at home, where he’s said to be doing well.
It could have been a very different story, according to Helen, who says she only found the puppy by chance as her usual running route takes her down a different path.
She said: ‘I normally go through a different entrance, but because it’d been raining, that side would’ve been quite muddy and had too many puddles.
‘I heard a noise and thought: what’s that? At first I thought I’d just leave it and carry on.
‘I did actually go to walk off but I thought: no, something doesn’t feel right.’

When she first scoured through the bin, Helen didn’t find the source of the cries due to the bin liner getting in the way of her being able to see.
She decided to take the lid off and remove the bin bag, which is when she spotted a Tesco bag with the pup inside who looked like he had been trying to climb out.
Helen said: ‘I just scooped him up and walked home. I think I was in shock. You don’t go out and expect to find that.’
An elderly couple passing by checked the other bins in the area, but they’d already been emptied by bin workers.
By another stroke of luck, the bin with the puppy inside had been left until last.

Helen’s two daughters, aged six and two, were excited to see the adorable dog and helped by keeping him warm and giving him water before they handed him over to Scarsdale Vets at Pride Park.
It’s thought the pup was in the bin for at least an hour before being found, with another saying they heard what they thought was a cat when they walked past at around 5.30am.
Helen added: ‘It’s amazing. It’s weird and crazy that it is OK considering how I found it. I’d love to be able to follow his journey to a happy ending.
‘Hopefully I get to find out. I don’t think he’ll be struggling to find a forever home with his little story. He’s gorgeous. I’m just glad he’s safe.’
Elsewhere in North Yorkshire, a cat is still waiting on its forever home after more than 230 days at an RSPCA shelter.
