Amused locals were left wondering ‘how the hell will they get that out of there?’ (Picture: BPM MEDIA)
Are you the owner of this Mercedes? If so, the Cornish want a word with you.
A coastal path was blocked when the driver abandoned their vehicle half way along it on Friday night.
Annoyed walkers were left squeezing past to travel between Plaidy and East Looe Beach when it was still there on Saturday morning.
But the motorist themselves is likely the biggest loser in this story, with locals questioning ‘how on earth they’ll get it out of there?!’
A picture of the car was uploaded to Facebook by Darren Hardwick, who joked that ‘someone was either incredibly drunk, stupid or both last night’.
Darren told Metro he was out for an early run with his dog when he stumbled across the scene yesterday.
He went on to reveal that it’s not actually the first time it’s happened – and while it frustrates some, others are left giggling over the poor parking.
‘It happened a couple of years ago, a local decided to drive home avoiding the main roads’, he said.
‘He got further but his car was almost balancing on the edge of the costal path. To be honest, we just laugh about it’.
It’s unknown if the vehicle is still there today but reports suggest a temporary fence was put in place that closed off the path on Saturday.
Darren’s post tickled people on social media, with Kirsty Elford commenting: ‘Just crazy!!! I wouldn’t want to reverse back out’.
‘Neither did they that’s why it’s abandoned there’, Darren quipped.
Others were left stunned, with some asking ‘how in the hell does that happen?’
A few locals have complained that this time of year regularly brings bad driving to the tourist hotspot.
‘And so it begins!!! Silly season has started!!’, Felicity Copplestone said.
Metro has contacted Devon and Cornwall Police for comment.
