Rise and Fall ‘Grafters’ literally gagging as they enter prison-like apartments for intense gameshow

The Rise and Fall contestants got quite the shock when they realised where they’d be living over the course of the game.

For some, the Rulers, a lavish penthouse awaited them, complete with gold decor and even a hot tub.

But for the remaining 10 Grafters, it was more like a prison.

The Channel 4 programme, hosted by Greg James, sees 16 contestants divided into two groups, the powerful Rulers, and the powerless Grafters.

Those in charge, who were quickly decided at the start to be ‘Rachel, Ramona, Cheryl, Rishika, Prince and Matt’ live it up at the top of the building, but those down below are forced to take their orders for the work tasks.

And as they realised the fate that awaited them, they were less than impressed.

Walking out of the lift, they were presented with very bleak, cold, brown walls, a basic kitchen with just one hob and a metal sink between them all, and two rows of tiny beds, just inches apart, crammed into the dark bedroom.

‘I’m stepping out of the lift, and it is grotesque,’ one player said, while another commented on how ‘uncomfortable’ the beds were.

‘It was just grotty, it was dark, kind of reminds me a bit like prison,’ Connor continued.

Looking around at their ‘dinner’, he then started gagging, while someone said the food smelt like ‘Big Foot’s a**e’.

Lifting the lid on their meal, they later find out it was some sort of soup with bread – and that’s all.

After settling into their penthouse, while the Grafters were offered prison-like beds and just soup and bread, the Rulers sent out their first orders: ‘Grafters, we are the rulers.

‘Our prize fund currently stands at zero, which means you’re going to need to put in the work to build it up. Only  a ruler can win the prize fund.

‘So we’re going to need you to put in that work and everything you can to get that going. Work starts tomorrow, and everything that you need, food and uniforms have been provided. Good luck.’

Rise and Fall continues on Monday at 10pm on Channel 4.
