MAR10 Day will allegedly see the release of a new Switch hardware bundle that includes ‘something’ related to Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Given the current price rises that have started around the world, now is the ideal time to buy an Xbox Series X or S, before the cost goes up in the UK. However, you might want to wait a few weeks before getting a Nintendo Switch, as a new bundle is reportedly in the works.
The bundle is supposedly themed around the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie, which opens in early April, and will include a console with red Joy-Cons, although the same ones first released last year and not anything with special branding on it.
According to the rumour, the bundle also includes a digital copy of Super Mario Odyssey and ‘something related to the movie’, but it’s not clear what that something is.
Leaker billbil-kun has proven highly reliable about retail announcements in the past and they claim the bundle will launch on MAR10 Day, aka March 10.
It’s unclear if it’ll be announced before that but the real question is what the extra something is and whether it’s just a piece of merchandise, or maybe cinema tickets, or if it’s software related.
Previous rumours had suggested that Nintendo might be planning to create new DLC for Super Mario Odyssey, perhaps adding costume and skin changes to make the characters look like they do in the movie.
Fans have already begun to suspect such a plan might exist as regular DLC, with a survey from January asking a lot of questions about Super Mario Odyssey and implying that more content might be on the way – although the wording was vague enough that it was never clear.
Video game movies are notorious for never seeming to launch alongside a new game, but it’s been a long while since Odyssey and just this week Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto admitted a new game is underway – even if he gave no indication of when it might be released.
