Love Island’s Casa Amor episode always guarantees lots of drama (Picture: ITV)
Love Island might have been packed full of drama with the Casa Amor recoupling’s, however viewers seem to have switched off after the episode had the least number of people tune in ever.
Back in 2017, the twist of introducing a second villa to the series began.
Designed to put the established relationships to the test, it’s become a fan favourite as some people stray and others stick firm to the person they’ve committed to.
After three days both villas get reunited, but not before a usually explosive re-coupling ceremony.
On Thursday night the highly anticipated episode aired and it did not let viewers down as bombs were dropped, liaisons were revealed, and many Islanders were left in tears.
From Casey O’Gorman recoupling with Claudia Fogarty and leaving Cynthia Otseh-Taiwo in tears, Olivia Hawkins taking aim at Kai Fagan, Will Young being forced to admit he kissed another girl to Jessie Wynter and Shaq Muhammad being blindsided after Tanya Manhenga ditched him for Martin Akinola, there was a lot unfolding.

However, it seems the number of people tuning in has dramatically dropped.
Overnight figures reportedly showed that the Winter Love Island Casa Amor episode attracted 1.3 million, a far cry from the 3.0 million that watched on during the 2022 summer series.
In the years preceding that, 2.7 million watched that season’s episode, 2.6 million in 2020, 3.6 million in 2019 and 3.8 million in 2018.
However so far this season Love Island has been averaging 2.9 million viewers per episode and has attracted 85 million programme streams so far on ITVX.

The Casa Amor episode was the third biggest overnight TV audience of the current season so far, and the second when viewing across all devices was taken into account.
While the summer series is generally more popular with audiences, the premiere of this season of the Winter series saw a drop of over a million viewers.
The first season of Winter Love Island, which aired in 2020 and saw Paige Turley and Finn Tapp take out the crown, drew in 2.5 million in its first episode.

In comparison this season launched with 1.4 million.
However, those tuning in can expect much more drama ahead, with Friday night’s episode set to show the fallout of what happened in the two villas, as well as the tea being spilt by the girls who shared kisses with the boys who were coupled up.
Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
