It’s time to return to the stars with the launch of Picard season 3, as the Star Trek series takes viewers to new heights across the galaxy.
With the release date finally arriving for fans in the UK and across the globe, viewers will be reunited once again with the legendary Sir Patrick Stewart, who leads the cast as the formidable Jean-Luc Picard.
The actor made his debut as the reputable character all the way back in 1987, when he was introduced in the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Now almost a year since the release of the season 2 finale, what new adventures is Picard embarking on this time, and which of his familiar old friends – and foes – will be joining him?
Here’s what you need to know about as the show blasts off with its third outing.
How to watch Star Trek: Picard in the UK
In the US, Star Trek: Picard is being released on the subscription video service Paramount Plus.

In the UK, the platform is available to access through Amazon Prime Video, as well as through the Paramount Plus app.
If people in the UK want to access Paramount Plus through Amazon Prime Video, they need to pay for a separate add-on subscription, which costs £6.99 a month.
If you’re unsure if you want to commit to the monthly payments, you can also give it a test-run for a seven-day free trial before being charged.
A Prime membership on its own costs £8.99 a month or £90 for a year, with the latter option giving a saving of over £17 a year.
Who is in the season 3 cast?
The third season of Picard, just like the past two seasons, will feature an array of familiar faces from past series and films, as well as new characters making their introductions in the franchise.
In addition to Sir Patrick in the titular lead role, other returning actors who first debuted decades ago include LeVar Burton as Geordi La Forge, Michael Dorn as Worf, Jonathan Frakes as William Riker, Gates McFadden as Beverly Crusher, Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi and Brent Spiner as Lore.
Daniel Davis returns as Professor Moriarty, alongside Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine, Michelle Hurd as Raffi Musiker and Orla Brady as Laris.
Ed Speleers takes on a main role as a yet-to-be-announced character, with other new cast members including Amanda Plummer as Vadic, LeVar’s daughter Mica Burton as Alandra La Forge, Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut as her on-screen sister Sidney La Forge, Todd Stashwick as Liam Shaw.
