Paul Scholes is still hopeful that Manchester United can win an unprecedented ‘quadruple’ of trophies following their draw with Barcelona.
United drew 2-2 at the Camp Nou on Thursday evening in the first leg of their Europa League play-off.
It was a thrilling game and a positive result with the tie to be decided next Thursday at Old Trafford, with a Premier League clash against Leicester before that on Sunday.
It all means that the Red Devils still have a chance of winning all the competitions they are in for the 2022/23 season, having reached the final of the Carabao Cup and the fifth round of the FA Cup.
In the league, they are currently third in the table and only five points off Manchester City and Arsenal, though the Gunners do have a game in hand over the Mancunian clubs.
Very few would have predicted that United would be in this position and Scholes seemed to suggest that it is possible for Erik ten Hag’s to go all the way.
‘The quadruple is still on! No look, every game is a big game,’ the legendary midfielder said on BT Sport.

Presenter Jules Breach replied: ‘You’re not joking,’ with Scholes insisting: ‘No, I’m not joking!’
If United really are to challenge for the quadruple, than the five games will be pivotal as after Leicester and Barcelona, they have the Carabao Cup final against in-form Newcastle followed by an FA Cup clash against West Ham.
One player who has been vital to their success so far this season is Marcus Rashford who scored his 22rd goal of the season in the Barcelona draw but admitted he was disappointed in the result – and the refereeing.
‘It feels like a loss. I think we did well to get back into the game, the first half was probably in favour of them,’ he told BT Sport.
‘We stayed calm, we stayed composed, we tried to make chances when we could. In the second half, we scored two goals in quick succession and we felt in control of the outcome, but they’re a good team with more players.
‘You have to expect them to [fight back]. They’ve got a lot of top players, high-quality players and if you give them time on the ball, they’re going to hurt you and it’s as simple as that.’
