Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani says news on the club’s new manager is imminent, with ‘white smoke’ expected by Wednesday morning.
The West Yorkshire club are hoping to make an appointment swiftly after Jesse Marsch was sacked on Monday following a poor run of results.
Defeat at Nottingham Forest on Monday left Leeds 17th in the table, only out of the relegation zone on goal difference and the American paid the price.
West Brom boss Carlos Corberan was quickly installed as the favourite to take over at Elland Road and remains the shortest price with the bookmakers, although nothing has been announced just yet.
However, Radrizzani confirmed on Twitter that he plans to announce a new manager very soon, possibly on Tuesday night or Wednesday mornning.
Replying to a fan asking for news on Twitter, the Italian wrote on Tuesday afternoon: ‘We are on it ….hopefully white smoke by tonight or tmw morning.’
The 39-year-old Corberan worked at Leeds from 2017-20, in charge of the Under-23 side but also working with the first team and was very well thought of by Marcelo Bielsa and the club in general.
He left to take charge of Huddersfield Town, then Olympiacos and now West Brom and could be handed his first chance at Premier League management by his former club.
